Magdalenefjord (Magdalenefjorden or Magdalene Bay) lies on the northwest corner of Spitsbergen. Arrive in the Magdalenefjord to fantastic scenery: sharply-peaked mountains on all sides, the craggy, sharp-toothed Waggonway Glacier directly ahead, and the golden sands of Gravneset just over the ship's side. Magdalenefjord is considered to be one of Svalbard's most beautiful fjords! Go ashore at Gravneset, which has one of the largest cemeteries dating from the whaling period in the 1600's.
